In India’s coastal Goa state, a fisherman has rescued three fishermen who got caught in the sea as a result of cyclonic winds.
The three fishermen are from the southern state of Kerala, and wandered toward Goa after their boat was caught in the winds.
[Laxman Harikant, Boat Owner & Fisherman]:
“We found three men at around 1:30. They were sitting in the net. They had no rope, so I gave them a rope and lifted them up.”
There were originally 10 fishermen on the boat… three were rescued… seven remain missing.
Authorities are still on the lookout for eight fishing boats and 39 fishermen from Goa that had gone missing after the Arabian Sea turned rough under the influence of Cyclone Phyan.
Coast guard vessels were dispatched to bring back fishing boats caught in the rough seas.
